(1) General Questions of Battery
Q1: USB Charging Port on the Battery
① Hauler/Brawn/Mars 2.0 /Mars/Cityrun/Cityscape /Ranger/Explore/Race Max batteries have a USB charging port for electronic devices, such as mobile phones, and iPads.
② Horizon/Ranger S/Hero/Tyson batteries do not have a USB charging port.
Note: All Heybike batteries can be removed from the bike frame and charged independently.
Q2: Battery Compatibility / Replacement Battery
If you want to buy a replacement battery for your Heybike electric bike, then it is worth noting that you must make sure that the battery you would like to buy is compatible with the model of your e-bike. Currently, our batteries are only compatible with the corresponding e-bike model. For example, you may find that Heybike Mars and Ranger batteries have the same voltage, but Ranger's battery is taller than Mars, which makes it unable to be installed on the Mars e-bike.
On the other hand, even if you can buy a battery with the same parameters, such as voltage, there is a possibility of damage to your Heybike e-bike after installing the battery due to the difference in circuit design and battery protection system.
Please note if there is any damage to the Heybike e-bike caused by the installation of a non-original or incompatible battery, your e-bike will NOT be covered by the Warranty. For more details about the replacement battery, please check the component page.
Q3: How can you check for the battery issues?
① Check if the battery can be turned on with the key in the ON position.
② Check if the power display is activated when you long press the power button of the battery.
③ Check whether the display screen can be turned on normally and whether the light and the horn can be used normally.
④ If the battery still does not work, please shoot a short video to show the battery problem, tell us your order number, and then email us at support@heybike.com for help.
Q4: Battery Keyhole Position
Familiarize yourself with the keyhole positions before riding the bike.
① When the key is in position 1 (ON icon), the battery is on and locked to the bike frame. The power button on the bike can control its turning on and off.
② When the key is in position 2 (OFF icon), the battery is off and locked to the bike frame. The bike remains off and no buttons can control it.
③ When the key is in position 3 (UNLOCK icon), the battery is off and can be removed from the bike frame before you move and ride the bike. The key can also be removed from the battery.
(2) Battery Charging Issues
When you charge the battery, please check and adjust the connections of the charger. Normally, when you plug the charger into the outlet, the indicator light turns green; when you connect the charger cable to the battery, the light turns red.
① The indicator light does not work when the charger is plugged into the outlet.
Please check the charger power connection to make sure the outlet, power cord, and charger plug are not damaged or loose. If there is a problem with the outlet, try another one. If this still does not work, use a new charger.
② The indicator light works normally when the charger connects to the outlet, but it is off or starts blinking red when the charger connects to the battery.
The battery may have problems, such as battery aging, and internal micro-short circuit of the battery. You can try to charge the battery, but if the battery still can not be charged properly, you will need to replace the battery.
③ The indicator light works normally when the charger connects to the outlet, but it does not become red when the charger connects to the battery.
First of all, please make sure whether the battery is fully charged. You can judge by the power indicator on it, or power on the display to see the battery level. If the battery is indeed not fully charged, and you can still use it properly, then it is internally damaged and needs to be replaced.
④ The charger's indicator light turns green, but the battery is not fully charged.
You may need to check the fuse connection of the battery (shown below). Use a Phillips head screwdriver to carefully loosen the fuse cover, remove the fuse from the battery, and take a picture/video to our customer support.

(3) Power Off Issues
① The display doesn't turn on, and the headlight and horn don't work. (The e-bike may be power-off completely.)
First, please check whether the battery is installed in place, whether the switch is on, and whether the key is in the correct position. Then check the power display on the battery to see whether it has power. If the display does not work, there may be something wrong with the battery, and it needs to be replaced.
If no problems are found, please check whether the controller is firmly connected to the power cable connector, and whether the main cable is firmly connected to the controller connector.
We are always glad and happy to help you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at support@heybike.com.

I purchased a Heybike Tyson model at a auction and it didn’t have a key for the battery. How can I remove the battery and replace the key?
Thank you
